Between art and wearability
I am struggling with this scent. The composition may be interesting and artistically ambitious, but for me, a perfume ultimately also has to remain wearable. Just because something is niche does not mean everything has to be packed into a fragrance just to seem as extraordinary as possible. Especially the opening does not make it easy for me. A lot is happening, much of it feels unwieldy to me at first, and I cannot find a real way into it. After a few hours, however, that changes. Then it suddenly reminds me of an Orthodox monastery – incense, a certain warmth, dark walls, and this very distinct, calm atmosphere. I actually find this later part interesting and much more pleasant. As an olfactory composition, I can certainly appreciate 20MARS2022. But as a fragrance I would really want to wear, it only works to a limited extent for me. Smelling interesting is simply not automatically the same as being pleasant to wear.
