Origin and Extraction
Patchouli is derived from the Pogostemon cablin, a bushy herb from the mint family native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia and India. History and Culture
Patchouli has a rich history dating back to ancient times in Asia, where it was used in traditional medicine, fabric preservation, and spiritual practices. During the 19th century, it became popular in Europe as a key ingredient in perfumes and was associated with the hippie counterculture of the 1960s and 70s.
