Masar

Initially, the resinous incense note is very prominent. Over time, it becomes spicier and towards the end sweeter, bringing a certain warmth. However, the incense always remains at the forefront.

With Masar, Pernoire delivers a spicy winter fragrance that initially refuses its coziness in the opening. The composition opens loudly with peppery cinnamon, which is cut through by a harsh, metallic note. This thermal contrast effectively prevents the warm spice structure from descending into a sticky gourmand direction. As it develops, the shrill edge gives way to an amber warmth and prominent vanilla, accompanied by a very smooth leather. A smoky-dry tobacco leaf joins in and only increases the coziness further. Since the initially strong projection reduces to a wearable closeness to the skin in good time, Masar remains a well-crafted, high-contrast companion for the cold season.

Immediate earthiness, leather. Soon amber, tobacco, smoky, woody notes. For me, a top fragrance with a tart spiciness, definitely no softie despite the animalic character. When it has matured, this one from Basel, I also recall freshly wallpapered walls. Makes you wonder: Should I, or shouldn't I.
