Resinous Notes
Labdanum is a rich, complex resinous note with a warm, sweet, and slightly leathery aroma. It has deep amber-like qualities with hints of honey, tobacco, and musky undertones. The scent is simultaneously woody, balsamic, and slightly animalic, offering a sophisticated and sensual olfactory experience.
Labdanum is a natural resin obtained from the Cistus ladanifer (rock rose) shrub, primarily found in Mediterranean regions such as Spain, Portugal, and Greece. Traditionally, it was extracted by combing the sticky resin from the plant's leaves and branches, a method known as 'ladanisterion'. Modern extraction methods include solvent extraction and steam distillation.
