Hyrax

For me, the fragrance is pleasant and not super animalic. However, I am only allowed to wear it when my girlfriend is not at home. We had a friend test it, and at first, he found it too animalic, but then wanted to smell it every 5 minutes anyway. For me, it lacks a bit of the depth of other fragrances, but it's a recommendation for hyraceum lovers.

Anyone looking for an uncompromising animalic fragrance should grab this. Really good!

Zoologist Hyrax is not a perfume, but a profound, almost literary character study. The opening hits you immediately as surprisingly delicious and massively alcoholic, like breathing in a dark, high-proof distillate masterfully refined with warm, complex spice. Out of this intoxicating opening, an extremely specific scene quickly emerges. You smell the end of the workday at a deserted gas station. The face is illuminated by flickering, greenish-yellow neon light; the surroundings of this eccentric character are marked by life, and in the pocket is a tattered book by Sadegh Hedayat. The aura of this fragrance is absolutely paradoxical. At first impression, it seems exhausted, worn out, and marked by life. But beneath this rough shell burns an irrepressible, almost stubborn motivation. Hyrax is strange, eccentric, but in a bizarre way, incredibly hearty and magnetically attractive. A massive, uncompromising leather accord dominates the heart of the composition. This is no polished luxury leather, but the smell of heavy, dirty cowboy boots made of coarse cordovan. Shoes that are never taken off and carry the dust of thousands of kilometers. This leather is flanked by a morbid animalic quality, reminiscent of the atmosphere of a room full of stuffed animals – silent, dusty, but fascinating. In the drydown, Hyrax reveals its twisted, dark romance. The fragrance becomes warmer and presents itself like a gift on a date with this eccentric character. A heavy glass of whiskey, accompanied by a bouquet of deep red roses that are not in water, but are thickly coated with warm, sticky resin. Hyrax is rough, dirty, and absolutely unconventional, but that is exactly why it is a craftsmanship masterpiece for all who love the raw and the imperfect.
