Herkunft und Extraktion
Mandarinen stammen ursprünglich aus China und werden heute in vielen warmen Regionen weltweit angebaut, einschließlich Italien, Spanien, Brasilien und den Vereinigten Staaten. Das ätherische Öl wird typischerweise durch Kaltpressung der Fruchschale gewonnen, was die hellen, frischen aromatischen Verbindungen erhält.
Geschichte und Kultur
Mandarinen haben eine lange Geschichte in der chinesischen Kultur, wurden ursprünglich in den südlichen Provinzen angebaut und galten als Symbol für Glück und Wohlstand. Sie wurden im 19. Jahrhundert nach Europa eingeführt und wurden schnell sowohl für kulinarische als auch für aromatische Zwecke beliebt. In der Parfümerie ist Mandarine seit Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts ein Grundbestandteil und findet sich in klassischen Düften und modernen Kompositionen.
Chemie und Molekularstruktur
Mandarinenöl enthält hauptsächlich Limonen, einen monoterpenischen Kohlenwasserstoff, der ihm seinen charakteristischen Zitrusduft verleiht. Weitere Schlüsselverbindungen sind Gamma-Terpinen, Citral und verschiedene Aldehyde, die zu seinem frischen, hellen aromatischen Profil beitragen.
