Tanguy Guesnet: The Perfumer Behind D'Orsay Holy Berry
A French Perfumer at IFF
Tanguy Guesnet is a French perfumer at IFF, one of the world's leading fragrance houses. He has repeatedly worked alongside master perfumer Anne Flipo, and his recent creations range from Lacoste and Rochas to independent houses such as D'Orsay and Obvious.
Holy Berry for D'Orsay
For D'Orsay he composed Holy Berry, a fruity, woody extrait de parfum with a concentration of 32%. A strawberry milk accord and cardamom open the scent. In the heart, iris concrete meets jasmine absolute, and a white oud accord, vanilla and sandalwood form the base.
Guesnet says he was aiming for a feeling of instant addiction and pure pleasure. The duality of the fragrance lies in the juicy strawberry and a more suave, mystical oud accord, which contrasts with the fruit to give it an irresistible vibration. The white oud is a modern take on the material, freed from its most animal facets and softened with milky notes and white woods.
Lacoste Original
Together with Anne Flipo he created Lacoste Original Eau de Parfum (2024), the first Lacoste fragrance by Interparfums and a nod to the brand's first scent from 1984. In his words, the two worked on a citrus freshness with fiery spices to convey movement: bergamot, cardamom and pink pepper. The duo later followed it with Lacoste Original Parfum, focusing on the intensity of the woods and the opulence of the amber notes.
Mademoiselle Rochas in Paris
Also with Anne Flipo, he developed Mademoiselle Rochas in Paris (2024), a floral chypre for Rochas with pear, raspberry, jasmine, oakmoss and sandalwood.
Kakigori White Crush for Obvious
For Obvious he created Kakigori White Crush, part of the Kakigori series launched in 2025. Pink pepper opens onto iris concrete and rose, before white musk and tonka bean settle on the skin.
