Oud Republic

On the skin as well as on clothes 12h+. I've had it for a while now and I get in a good mood every time I smell it. Oud isn't just oud with this one, it is really beautiful. It doesn't change much, and it doesn't need to.

The fragrance opens slightly rosy, spicy, and warm, paired with a subtle sweetness. As it develops, the rose intensifies, the warm sweetness constantly resonates, and a hint of oud can be detected.

Oud Republic by Pana Dora is a truly exciting fragrance for me and at the same time one of the few oud fragrances that I liked right away. Especially for autumn and winter, it has a great presence: dark, warm, opulent, and definitely not your everyday scent. The opening is immediately intense. The fruity and sweet notes meet rose and make for a rather lush entrance. On my skin, unfortunately, the rose comes out stronger than I personally would like. Together with the pronounced sweetness, Oud Republic thus moves somewhat too far in a direction that does not quite match my taste. What really convinces me, however, are the woods. As it develops further, the fragrance takes on this dark, warm, and slightly resinous woodiness that forms a great counterpart to the sweetness. Especially the combination of oud, sandalwood, cedarwood, and the balsamic notes gives Oud Republic an enormous amount of depth. I do not perceive the oud as unpleasantly animalic or medicinal, but rather very well integrated into the composition. Especially in the drydown, I like Oud Republic very much for this reason. The fruitiness recedes a bit and the woody, warm base gets more room. Nevertheless, rose and sweetness remain clearly perceptible on my skin. Performance and projection fit the character of the fragrance brilliantly. Oud Republic does not want to be a restrained everyday scent. For me, this is clearly a fragrance for cool autumn evenings, winter, and special occasions. An exceptional, high-quality, and characterful fragrance that I really enjoy smelling. If the rose on my skin were a bit more subtle and the composition a tad less sweet, Oud Republic could even rank significantly higher for me.
