Amyris, also known as West Indian Sandalwood, is derived from the Amyris balsamifera tree, native to the Caribbean region, particularly Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The essential oil is typically extracted through steam distillation of the wood, producing a pale yellow to light brown oil with a mild, pleasant aroma.
