Haven’t We Smelled This Before? We Certainly Have.
Wait, Is This Bois Impérial? It’s been a long time since I tried a fragrance that felt so openly copied from other perfumes. In this case, it’s a mix of Ganymede and, even more, Quentin Bisch’s Bois Impérial. I understand why these fragrances are hugely popular, and obviously there is demand for this profile. But so many years have passed, and there have already been so many versions and dupes that this just feels strange. Especially with a name like Tribeca Vibes. You expect something exciting, something with character, and instead you get what feels like an almost absolute clone. Only more straightforward, sharper and more monotonous, with the amber-woody character pushed even harder. The similarity is so strong that after wearing it for about thirty minutes, I genuinely wondered if I had somehow sprayed Bois Impérial by mistake. Then I remembered: impossible. My Bois Impérial is a full bottle. I was testing this from a sample. It’s pleasant and perfectly wearable, but I genuinely don’t understand why I would buy a dupe (I mean analog) something so close to one when I can simply buy the original, especially when Bois Impérial is very reasonably priced. I don’t want to criticize the perfumer or the fragrance itself, but the reality is that this feels completely derivative.
