How does Etat Libre d’Orange Noël au Balcon smell?
Opens with vibrant bergamot and spicy cinnamon-pepper accord, leading to a rich heart of orange honey and delicate lily of the valley. The composition is grounded in a warm base of vanilla, musk, and subtle cedarwood, creating a gourmand-spicy blend that's both festive and sensual.
The fragrance smells very intensely of roses. But like powdery roses with a hint of shower gel. Very nice gourmand scent. Pleasant to smell. For me, a very nice evening scent. Personally, I would also wear it to work, though. But I would also say that I have often smelled something similar before. Even in somewhat cheaper variations.
Despite its name, Noël au Balcon by Etat Libre D'Orange evokes hardly any classic Christmas associations. Instead, the composition begins with a warm, fruity citrus note that gains a pleasant, slightly sharp spiciness from the presence of pepper. As it develops, this opening gives way to a dominant, floral-powdery rose. The floral heart is accompanied by a subtle, very bright honey sweetness that provides a soft contrast in the background. In the base note, tangible cedarwood gives the still strong rose a stable backbone, while vanilla flashes through only subtly at most. Overall, the initially spicy character soon fades into a very feminine, rose-dominated progression. As an elegant and present fragrance, it is ideally suited as an evening companion for going out.
