Floral Notes
Orris has a complex, sophisticated scent profile characterized by powdery, soft, elegant, and slightly woody nuances. It offers a delicate, refined fragrance with earthy, rooty undertones and a subtle floral sweetness. The scent is often described as clean, cool, and reminiscent of vintage makeup and cosmetic notes.
Orris is derived from the rhizome (root) of certain iris species, primarily Iris pallida, Iris germanica, and Iris florentina. The roots are carefully harvested, dried for 3-5 years, and then ground into a fine powder or steam-distilled to produce orris butter or essential oil. The most prized orris comes from the Tuscany region in Italy.
