Herkunft und Extraktion
Sandelholz ist hauptsächlich ein natürlicher Inhaltsstoff, der aus dem Kernholz von Santalum-Bäumen gewonnen wird, die hauptsächlich in Indien (Mysore), Australien und Neukaledonien vorkommen. Es wird durch Wasserdampfdestillation oder CO2-Extraktion gewonnen.
Geschichte und Kultur
Sandelholz wird seit Jahrhunderten in religiösen Zeremonien, traditionellen Heilmitteln und als Räucherwerk verwendet, insbesondere in Indien, wo es als heilig gilt und mit Spiritualität und Ruhe assoziiert wird. Es wird häufig in klassischen und modernen Düften wegen seiner Vielseitigkeit und seiner Fähigkeit verwendet, traditionelle und zeitgenössische Effekte zu erzielen. Es ist ein Hauptbestandteil bekannter Parfüms wie Samsara von Guerlain, Tam Dao von Diptyque und Santal 33 von Le Labo.
Chemie und Molekularstruktur
Die Hauptbestandteile von Sandelholz sind Santalole (Alpha-Santalol, Beta-Santalol), die Sesquiterpene sind, deren Molekularstruktur zu seinem charakteristischen cremigen, warmen und holzigen Geruchsprofil führt.
