Dorian's Spleen by L'Entropiste was a surprise scent. It is a tribute to Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray, and that is precisely how it smells: like an elegant dandy with a dark side. The opening with whisky is strong and dry, followed by coffee, dark chocolate, and caramel, which give the fragrance a bittersweet, indulgent depth. In the drydown, it turns to ash and smoke. It is precisely this contrast between indulgence and decay that makes the fragrance so exciting for me. It is not an everyday scent and should be applied sparingly, but it has an enormous amount of character.
