SãlumCocoyster8/102 days agoCocoyster: salty coconut that finds its place in the cold
Cocoyster is one of the strangest and most original things I own. It opens with a salty, briny burst of sea and oyster, then the creamy coconut milk and ylang-ylang come through. The coconut isn’t a sunscreen cliché. It’s salty and a bit rough, and it settles into amber and a smoky hint of incense. It’s an extrait, so it’s strong and long-lasting, and a little goes a long way. That concentration is why it works better for me in cool or cold weather, where it stays rich but controlled. In summer heat it becomes too heavy and creamy. It’s not for everyone. If you dislike coconut, or want a light, fresh aquatic, skip it. If you like salty, gourmand-marine scents with some character, it’s one of the most interesting out there. Best for: cool and cold days, relaxed wear, a couple of sprays at most. Not for: hot weather, the office, or anyone who dislikes coconut.
