Risvelium

Risvelium is one of the most distinctive fragrances I own, and it’s quickly become a favourite. It opens with a sharp, bitter grapefruit and bergamot burst that feels almost metallic, with a green, herbal edge rather than the sweet citrus you might expect. It’s fresh, but not in a generic way. As it develops, the earthy side comes through: damp soil, green roots and a slightly animalic musk. The ambroxan and amber base keeps everything smooth and skin-close, so it feels dirty in an elegant way rather than heavy or sweet. The drydown is where it won me over. I first assumed it was a summer scent, but it shines in mild weather. I wore it on a grey, humid 14-21°C day and it felt perfect. The citrus keeps it lively and the earthy base gives it depth. In real heat I’d go light, because the musk and ambroxan can get strong. Performance is excellent. Projection is strong and it lasts all day, so it works on a couple of sprays and doesn’t need more. I’d keep it for weekends and casual wear, since it’s too loud for a closed office. It won’t suit everyone. It’s unusual and polarising, and anyone expecting a classic fresh citrus will be surprised. But if you like green, earthy and slightly raw niche fragrances, it’s well worth sampling. Best for: spring and early autumn, casual daytime wear. Not for: a quiet office or very hot days.

It is very aptly named. I sat in my garden to try it, and I smelled moss, oak, cypress, sun, a warm scent of wilderness (and it's crazy, because none of these notes are in it). It is very similar to Sloth by Zoologist, less green and rounder thanks to the amber. I recommend applying it with your eyes closed and outdoors for a great meditation session in perspective!

Opening with a very cold, moldy earth smell, but not unpleasant, very original. Then leans towards a very nice modern woody scent (though more classic).
