The story

Maison Crivelli was founded in Paris in 2018 by Thibaud Crivelli. Each perfume begins with the founder’s own encounter with a fragrance material—not in isolation, but connected to landscape, taste, colour, sound and texture.

Crivelli translates these memories into multisensory mood boards and develops the compositions with different perfumers. Contrast is the common thread: familiar materials are placed in unexpected settings so that new facets can emerge.

01 · The founder

From travelling to an independent house

Thibaud Crivelli was born in Paris and grew up between central France and Provence. From 2006, he spent roughly ten years living in different Asian countries. There he encountered plants and fragrance materials within their landscapes and developed a deliberately direct, multisensory view of nature.

After roles at LVMH, Givenchy, Dior and Guerlain, he founded Maison Crivelli in 2018. He approaches his role as creative direction: lived experience, knowledge of materials and visual ideas come together, while each perfumer develops an individual formula from the brief.

02 · The principle

A memory becomes a contrast

Maison Crivelli keeps inspiration concrete. For Hibiscus Mahajad, Thibaud Crivelli recalled drinking hibiscus tea in a gemstone market. Working with Quentin Bisch, the memory became a perfume that contrasts the floral brightness of hibiscus and rose with vanilla, leather and musk.

The aim is not to illustrate a scene literally. Images, sounds, flavours and tactile impressions form an open brief to which the perfumer responds in an individual hand.

03 · The collaboration

Freedom within a clearly defined scene

Every project begins with the same method, but not with the same aesthetic answer. The house gives perfumers time to present, assess and refine proposals; according to the brand, the process can take from several months to two years.

For Oud Maracuja, Jordi Fernández translated the memory of passion fruit in a remote oud forest into tension between bright fruit, dark wood and leather. Patchouli Magnetik by Quentin Bisch offers a different answer to the same principle, setting patchouli against peach and gardenia.

„Enthusiastic about the Parfinty concept, I invested a lot of time in putting together my ultimate box. The selection was supposed to be green, mature, and special – definitely not too sweet or lovely. When the box finally arrived, they were great scents, but none of them was 100 percent my thing. Almost half-heartedly, I finally tested the additional free sample. The description mentioned something about "tattooed women" (which I personally can't relate to much) and I had no idea what papyrus actually smells like. But then the surprise: What a fragrance!
