Hyacinte Cassam Chenaï is a perfumer based in Grasse, the historic heart of French perfumery. She works at The French Fragrance House, where the fragrance oil for
Ferry Hansen No. 1 is produced.
She met Ferry Hansen in Berlin, during his sabbatical at Urban Scents. According to Ferry, the connection was immediate: what began as creative curiosity grew into a close collaboration. From the first draft, the two shared the same instinct for balance, depth and emotion.
Together they created No. 1, the first fragrance of
Ferry Hansen. The composition brings together more than 90 ingredients and deliberately questions the classic fragrance pyramid. Instead of fading after the opening, a bouquet of white flowers such as
jasmine and
tuberose stays present like an echo through the heart and the base.
In the heart, black tea with almond milk meets
chocolate,
cinnamon and
caramel. The base evokes wood-panelled rooms with
oud,
leather and a trace of
tobacco smoke. Ferry describes her work on the formula as so precise that no reformulation or further briefing was needed.
