Céline Perdriel: French Perfumer Crafting Modern Elegance

Career Journey and Creative Philosophy

Céline Perdriel represents a new generation of French perfumers who blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation. Born in the South-West of France between Toulouse and Agen, her childhood in the Garonne valley surrounded by fields, fruit trees, and flowers profoundly shaped her olfactory memory. The scents of her grandfather's artisan bakery, particularly the "tortillon" - a local specialty infused with orange blossom, lemon, and vanilla - remain vivid inspirations in her work today.
Her path to perfumery began at age eight when her grandmother gifted her aromatic vials, sparking a lifelong passion for scent. A pivotal meeting with renowned perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena in Grasse solidified her ambition. After studying chemistry and completing her training at the prestigious ISIPCA, Perdriel gained experience at Synarome before joining Givaudan in 2006, where she worked with L'Oréal's luxury brands and contributed to fragrances like Montblanc Legend.
Currently serving as Senior Perfumer at Cosmo International Fragrances, Perdriel leads a creative team in Paris while collaborating with offices in Miami and Barcelona. Her approach emphasizes contrasting combinations and natural elegance, often highlighting specific raw materials to explore their different facets. She values working with brands that allow authentic expression, particularly appreciating collaborations that dare to overdose on raw materials for unique results.

Signature Creations and Modern Innovation

Perdriel's most celebrated work appears in her collaboration with Atelier Materi, where she has created distinctive fragrances that showcase her talent for balancing contrasts. Rose Ardoise exemplifies her philosophy - an urban, mineral rose that took over two years to perfect, combining Turkish Damascena and Grasse Centifolia roses with sage and ambroxan for an androgynous, contemporary character.
Her fascination with specific ingredients drives her creativity. In Cuir Nilam, she reimagines patchouli through dark, animalistic facets inspired by the iconic leather perfecto jacket. Ambre Papier showcases her skill with Siam benzoin, creating electric contrasts between saffron's burning warmth and benzoin's smooth vanilla facets. The innovative Cèdre Figalia captures an entire fig tree from sap to fruit, while Burgundy Oud offers a fresh interpretation of traditional oud enhanced by blackcurrant's tangy brightness.
With over two decades of experience spanning raw materials, fine fragrance, and body care, Perdriel has established herself as a versatile creator who bridges traditional French perfumery with modern sensibilities. Her work demonstrates that contemporary luxury can embrace both craftsmanship and innovation, creating fragrances that resonate with today's fragrance enthusiasts while honoring perfumery's rich heritage.
