Bertrand Duchaufour: Master of Modern Niche Perfumery

Bertrand Duchaufour stands as one of the most influential and prolific perfumers in contemporary niche fragrance creation. Born in Nancy, France, his journey into perfumery began unexpectedly at age 16 when a girlfriend's passion for Chanel No. 19 sparked his fascination with scent. For Comme des Garçons, he created the groundbreaking Avignon and Kyoto from their Incense series, demonstrating his ability to make "austerity seem rich" through masterful use of olibanum and innovative synthetic overdoses.
