A beautiful wildflower meadow with hidden thorns
Gladiator starts out beautifully for me: citrus, floral notes, greenery, and a subtle sweet fruitiness intertwine wonderfully. In the background lies a fruity-sweet facet that gives the fragrance that special oomph. The composition matches my perception surprisingly well: pineapple, grapefruit, and bergamot meet peppermint, geranium, bitter orange, and lemon. Later on, green apple, vetiver, woods, white florals, and Indonesian patchouli join in, among others. At first, I didn't know exactly why the scent wasn't completely clear to my nose. I thought of too many floral impressions or a spicy facet. With the development, however, this deeper green-spicy, patchouli-like side comes through more and more strongly—and ultimately, the fragrance triggers me noticeably. My mental image is a gorgeous wildflower meadow in the morning: green grass, colorful flowers, fresh citrus air, and a basket of pineapples and green apples. Only when picking a flower do you notice the little thorns on the stem. That is precisely how I experience Gladiator: beautiful, but not pleasant for me to wear. Without the reaction, I could even imagine it in my collection or for layering. However, I would never overspray it. 7.5 / 10 I genuinely appreciate the scent, but the increasing patchouli/spicy direction and my clear reaction make it a no-buy for me.
