Sora Dora: French Niche Perfumery with Portuguese Heritage
A Perfume Family Legacy: From Portugal to Grasse
The Sora Dora story begins in 1902 with Antoine Soradora, born in Loulé, Portugal. Growing up in a farming family, he was surrounded by the natural scents of the countryside. At 18, in 1920, he moved to Gréasque, France, where he transformed a modest garden into a fragrant oasis.
In Grasse, the heart of the perfume industry, Antoine met Etienne, a jasmine grower. Together, they began experimenting with perfume creation. After Etienne's passing, Antoine continued their work and created his first fragrance - marking the beginning of the Sora Dora legacy.
In 2021, Quentin Soradora, Antoine's grandson, brought the family tradition back to life. He launched the contemporary Sora Dora brand as a tribute to his immigrant grandfather. The name combines Quentin's surname "Dorado" with "Sora," a person who helped him start the project. Four generations of perfume knowledge flow into every creation.
The brand embodies French perfumery DNA with a contemporary vision. Quentin works alongside his brother Ben, an artist and artistic director who shapes the visual identity. Their parents also worked in perfumery and founded their own house in Nantes. This deep connection to fragrance culture influences every aspect of Sora Dora.
The company remains self-financed, ensuring complete independence. This autonomy allows for creative freedom and authentic fragrance creation without commercial compromises.
Signature Scents and Olfactory Masterpieces from Sora Dora
Sora Dora creates fragrances with three distinct olfactory phases, symbolizing evolution and contemporaneity. The 2021 collection of seven fragrances tells Antoine's life journey.
Mandorle quickly became a bestseller - a seductive
gourmand-
leather blend with
almond and cherry notes.
Jany enchants as an olfactory apple tart with
cinnamon, baked apples, and
caramel.
Brocéliande surprises with its cola-like opening of
citrus,
ginger, and animalic notes.
Gladiator offers fresh
pineapple and
mint on a woody base.
Perfumers Amélie Bourgeois, Anne-Sophie Behaghel, Camille Chemardin, and Margaux Le Paih Guérin from Flair Studio Paris contribute their expertise. They use exceptional raw materials like sandalwood from Melanesia or mint from Gréasque, combining them with bold synthetic accords.
The "Irréel (White)" collection showcases daring innovation.
Red combines
spicy and
nutty notes, while
Mallow evokes candy with
violet and
raspberry. Each fragrance tells a story and evokes emotions - "Perfume is emotion in a bottle," states founder Quentin.
The brand emphasizes highly concentrated perfume extracts that are tenacious and long-lasting, ensuring each fragrance evolves beautifully on the skin throughout the day.
