Resinous Notes

Opoponax is a rich, warm, and sweet resinous note with deep balsamic undertones. It has a complex aroma that is simultaneously honey-like, slightly smoky, and earthy, with a soft, almost powdery warmth. The scent is reminiscent of sweet myrrh, with a deep, mysterious quality that adds depth and sensuality to fragrances.

Opoponax is a natural resin extracted from the Commiphora erythraea tree, native to Somalia and parts of Northeast Africa. The resin is harvested by making incisions in the bark of the tree, allowing the sap to dry and form hardened tears, which are then steam distilled or solvent extracted to produce the essential oil.
