Opoponax

Opoponax is a natural resin extracted from the Commiphora erythraea tree, native to Somalia and parts of Northeast Africa. The resin is harvested by making incisions in the bark of the tree, allowing the sap to dry and form hardened tears, which are then steam distilled or solvent extracted to produce the essential oil.
