Mastic is a natural resin extracted from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus), which is native to the Mediterranean region, particularly the Greek island of Chios. The resin is obtained through careful incisions in the tree's bark, allowing the sap to slowly crystallize and be collected, a traditional process known as 'teardrops' harvesting.
