The story
Founded in 2003, Parfums MDCI is the house created by Claude Marchal around a simple conviction: fine fragrance should be a source of beauty and pleasure, not a disposable commodity. The name expands to Marchal Dessins et Créations Indépendantes.
From Paris, the house works with a changing group of independent perfumers and gives each composition room to develop. Its signature is the meeting of olfactory craft with bottles and sculpted stoppers that draw on the Renaissance, antiquity, historic painting, and the decorative arts.
01 · A founder's idea

Perfume as an art, not a commodity

Claude Marchal founded Parfums MDCI in 2003 under the expanded name Marchal Dessins et Créations Indépendantes. The house describes its purpose as a revival of French perfume artistry, with compositions made for amateurs and collectors who value beauty, character, and time.
The creative direction comes from the founder, while the fragrances are made with selected perfumers. This balance gives the house a recognizable point of view without reducing every scent to one signature formula.

02 · A visual language

Classical references in a contemporary bottle

The house looks to the Italian Renaissance, seventeenth-century France, ancient objects, and the great voyages of discovery. These references are not only a mood board. They become physical details in the flacons, from small sculptural busts to refined cylindrical forms.
The official catalogue also presents a Painters and Perfumers collection, in which selected compositions respond to historic paintings. Cio Cio San, Les Indes Galantes, and Fêtes Persanes show how the house connects perfume with music, travel, and visual culture.

03 · The fragrance collection

Many perfumers, one carefully edited house

MDCI's official catalogue brings together contrasting styles and voices. Ambre Topkapi is credited to Pierre Bourdon, Chypre Palatin to Bertrand Duchaufour, and Invasion Barbare to Stéphanie Bakouche. On the women's side, Cécile Zarokian, Patricia de Nicolaï, Jeanne-Marie Faugier, and Amandine Marie are among the credited perfumers.
At Parfinity, the MDCI selection can be explored through the fragrances currently linked to the brand, including Cuir Garamante, Nuit Andalouse, and Le Rivage des Syrtes.

Some fragrances immediately touch something familiar without being trivial. Nuit Andalouse was exactly such a moment for me. Even with the first test from the sample, I had this feeling of warmth, intimacy, and quiet elegance. The fragrance opens softly and invitingly. It appears warm, noble, and very well-groomed, never loud. For me, it has something deeply intimate. I imagine a luxurious hotel room, a freestanding bathtub with warm water and fine foam, dimmed light, a white bathrobe. Not a classic spa scent, but a calm, luxurious atmosphere that radiates comfort.Over time, Nuit Andalouse becomes even more beautiful. It settles close to the skin, appearing golden, soft, and harmonious. A fragrance that has presence without being intrusive. It smells sensual, warm, and noble. It appears confident and calm, not playful. A fragrance for a woman who knows what she wants.Nuit Andalouse possesses a true je ne sais quoi for me. After the sample, it quickly became clear that I wanted not only to experience it but also to own it. A quiet, luxurious fragrance with depth and character.

I was looking forward to a sinful peach – but was unfortunately disappointed. The peach here doesn't smell modern or sexy at all, but rather extremely classic, well-behaved, and almost soapy-old-fashioned. A nice, clean scent for a coffee klatch, but it completely lacks temperament and fire for me.

A beautiful, luxurious, dense floral-fruity fragrance with peach and white flowers. Very long-lasting, with enormous sillage, extremely feminine and absolutely worthy of compliments.
