The story
Off Script is the new brand from Elizabeth Gaynes, who has led the New York oud house Strangelove since 2013. The idea behind it: many people believe they dislike oud because they have only met synthetic imitations. Off Script is meant to open the door to the real material.
The collection tells one story in three chapters. Every fragrance contains Cambodian oud, and it becomes more pronounced from chapter to chapter. The fragrances were composed by Julien Rasquinet and Céline Herbette and are blended and bottled in Italy.
01 · Origin

An invitation to real oud

Elizabeth Gaynes encountered oud more than a decade ago on sustainable agarwood plantations in Borneo. That experience led to Strangelove, a house built entirely around the material. With Off Script she pursues a different goal: people who know oud only from synthetic imitations, or think it too heavy, should get to know the real thing. The brand calls itself a love letter to everyone who has never tried oud and aims to meet the same standards as Strangelove at a more accessible price.
03 · Craft

Two perfumers, made in Italy

Julien Rasquinet composed Wallflower and Doubletake, while Céline Herbette created Heavenspot. All three contain Cambodian oud, which the brand says comes from ethical producers Elizabeth Gaynes has worked with since the early 2000s. The eau de parfums carry 25 percent fragrance oil and are blended and bottled in Italy. The bottles are made of Italian glass and finished with custom caps.
