The Soft Lawn

The Smell of Something New. I'm usually not the biggest fan of deliberately synthetic fragrances, where almost everything you smell feels artificial. But I absolutely love this one. It smells like fresh grass and a new tennis ball, but somehow you don't perceive it literally as grass or a tennis ball. It's more about the mood: early summer morning, fresh but not cold, just out of the shower and heading to the tennis court. Brand-new white tennis shoes, a crisp white tennis shirt, a white skirt or shorts. Everything feels incredibly clean, young and healthy. It's the smell of newness. A new tennis ball, a fresh court, freshly cut grass, brand-new sportswear. Not laundry detergent simply that particular smell of something completely new. I would absolutely love this as a shower gel. I really hope the brand makes a body-care line one day. Update - I couldn’t help myself and bought a bottle. It smells just as lovely in autumn as it does in summer. It’s a very calm scent; it’s surprising that it’s become more cosy than fresh. In my opinion, it’s the most interesting fragrance from this brand and unlike any of their others.

Unfortunately, it doesn't smell like tennis balls or a tennis court to me, but rather like a typically fresh, dull, slightly bourgeois men's fragrance. It is a bit synthetic and slightly rubbery, but I mainly smell linden blossom, ivy, and some grapefruit. Rather less niche, but very straightforward and probably quite nice to wear in summer if you like such scent profiles. Doesn't bother me, but doesn't excite me either.

"The Soft Lawn" is definitely something creatively unusual, which is certainly due to the synthetic "tennis ball" note. Some people might associate it with the occasional nice game of tennis in the summer, while others primarily smell plastic and wonder: what is that about? The specific tennis note is joined by something fresh that outlasts the synthetics for a long time. Generally a fragrance with surprisingly long longevity.
