The story

Founded in Reykjavík in 2017, Fischersund is a family-run perfumery and art collective. Its founders include Sigur Rós musician Jónsi and his sisters Lilja, Ingibjörg and Sigurrós. Their starting point is a shared experience: a smell can bring back a memory as immediately as music. This connection gives rise to perfumes whose stories continue through sound, images and poetry. The black house on Fischersund street remains the centre of this creative world.

01 · One house, many disciplines

From recording studio to perfumery

Before the black house at Fischersund 3 became a place to experience perfume, Jónsi made music there. Its transformation into a perfumery continued that creative purpose. Today the family's different skills come together here: Lilja develops collaborations, Ingibjörg shapes the visual world, and scent and sound tell connected stories. A visit to the shop is conceived as a sensory journey through the fragrances, accompanied by specially paired schnapps.

02 · Inside the workshop

Perfumery as a family craft

Sigurrós Birgisdóttir leads production at the Súðarvogur workshop in Reykjavík. A self-taught perfumer, she hand-blends perfumes, candles and incense and contributes to new fragrances. Her father Birgir is involved too, making the brand's incense. The connection between scent and art is rooted in shared daily work. The collective also takes its practice into exhibitions, bringing smell together with sound, sculpture and photography.
