The story
Clive Christian Perfume traces its story to London’s Crown Perfumery, established in 1872. In 1999, designer Clive Christian OBE acquired the historic house and relaunched it as a modern British perfume brand.
The crown on each bottle is the visible link between past and present. The house describes its formulas as concentrated and complex, using 20% or more perfume oil and, depending on the composition, 120 to 300 ingredients. The result is an expressive style built around materials, proportion and lasting craft.
01 · London, 1872 to today

A crowned heritage

The Crown Perfumery was established in London in 1872. Queen Victoria granted it permission to use the likeness of her crown on its bottles, a detail that remains central to the house’s visual language. In 1999, Clive Christian OBE acquired the historic perfumery and launched the first Original Collection under his name. Today, 1872 for Men keeps that founding year visible in the collection itself.

02 · History as material

Classics reread

The Crown Collection returns to the predecessor house’s archive and translates it for a contemporary wardrobe. Crab Apple Blossom, first associated with the company’s early perfume history, sits alongside Matsukita and Town & Country. The point is not to reproduce a museum piece, but to let a historical vocabulary meet modern formulation and presentation.
