History and Culture
Tangerines originated in China and were first introduced to Europe in the 19th century, named after Tangier, Morocco, a major port of entry. They have been valued in traditional Chinese medicine for their vitamin C content and refreshing properties. In perfumery, tangerine has become increasingly popular since the late 20th century, symbolizing freshness, youth, and vitality in fragrance compositions.

Tangerine essential oil contains primary chemical components like limonene (a monoterpene responsible for its characteristic citrus scent), citral, and various other terpenic compounds.
