The story

A fragrance can be a portrait without showing a face. Genyum looks at people who paint, write, dance or make music, and at the materials they work with.

Founded in Barcelona in 2018, the house was created by Anna Torrents. Its premise emerged in a sculptor's studio. Her proximity to art and hands-on making became a perfume concept centred on the creative process.

01 · Anna Torrents

Beginning in the studio

Anna Torrents traces Genyum's beginnings to a sculptor's studio: metal, fire and the gestures that bring a form into being. Her interest lay not only in the finished artwork but in the smells surrounding its creation. This became the idea of translating creative work into perfume.

02 · The composition

Different voices, a shared premise

Genyum works with a range of perfumers, including Jordi Fernández, Gaël Montero, Sonia Constant and Yann Vasnier. The artistic figure supplies a starting point; each composition develops its own character from it.

The packaging reflects the same interest in materials: Genyum has its glass bottles, wooden caps and boxes made in Barcelona. The wood comes from Europe, while the labels use textured paper. Inside the box, a cardboard insert holds the bottle in place. The house describes its formulas as vegan and its packaging materials as recyclable.
