Alexandra Kosinski: French Perfumer Blending Nature & Art

From Chemistry Student to Fragrance Visionary

Alexandra Kosinski's path to perfumery began with a childhood dream at age 12. This French perfumer turned her early passion into expertise through rigorous study, earning a Master's degree in Chemistry before graduating top of her class at ISIPCA in Versailles.
Her professional journey started at Quest International, where she developed her foundational skills. When Quest merged with Givaudan, Kosinski spent 15 transformative years honing her craft and creating fragrances for major brands. This extensive experience shaped her understanding of both mainstream and niche markets.
In 2018, Kosinski joined CPL Aromas as Senior Perfumer, eventually becoming Director of Perfumery UK. Her current role allows her to work with diverse brands while maintaining creative freedom. She also creates fragrances for Yú Parfums, showcasing her versatility across different market segments.
Kosinski's creative philosophy centers on nature as an endless source of inspiration. She believes every fragrance and raw material has its own color, drawing parallels between perfumery and painting. Artists like Klimt and Modigliani influence her work, helping her visualize scent compositions as artistic masterpieces.
Her approach to ingredient selection resembles hosting a party - she knows how different elements will interact and complement each other. This intuitive understanding, combined with technical expertise, allows her to create harmonious compositions that capture natural beauty in bottled form.

Signature Creations and Artistic Legacy

Kosinski's portfolio spans prestigious houses including Etat Libre d'Orange, Initio Parfums Prives, Versace, and Parfums de Marly. Her work demonstrates remarkable range, from mainstream commercial successes to avant-garde niche creations.
Cologne for Etat Libre d'Orange exemplifies her ability to reimagine classics. This composition transforms traditional cologne structure with mandarin replacing bergamot, mint substituting rosemary, and a rich base adding depth. The result feels familiar yet fresh, maintaining cologne's essential character while offering modern sophistication.
Her preferred ingredients include orange blossom, musk, vanilla, lavender, peach, jasmine, and amber. These materials frequently appear in her compositions, creating a subtle signature across diverse projects. Kosinski particularly gravitates toward vanilla and animalistic notes, adding warmth and sensuality to her creations.
Recognition has followed her innovative work, with multiple FiFi Awards acknowledging her contributions to perfumery. Her ability to work with natural, organic, and vegan materials positions her at the forefront of sustainable fragrance development.
Kosinski believes fragrances powerfully impact daily life, boosting confidence and elevating moods. This philosophy drives her to create scents that transport wearers to different times and places, evoking rich emotional responses. Her personal favorite, L'heure Bleu by Guerlain, reflects her appreciation for well-structured compositions with extraordinary presence.
