The story
St Johns Fragrance Company grew from an encounter between US naval history and Caribbean scent culture. In 1947, Captain John Webb developed a bay rum on St. Thomas using West Indian bay oil and locally inspired spices. That became a fragrance tradition the company still maintains.
The brand pairs classic men's fragrances with unmistakable packaging. Its Fishpot Weave bottles are hand-woven with palm fronds and recall the fishing baskets of the Virgin Islands. Alongside the spicy Bay Rum, No. 77 offers a brighter citrus and herbal expression.
01 · Origin

Bay rum between islands and seafaring

St Johns began on St. Thomas, where Captain John Webb was stationed during the Second World War. In 1947, he drew on the region's long bay rum culture, combining West Indian bay oil with herbs and spices. The islands are more than a backdrop: they shape the brand's ingredient history and visual language. Bay Rum carries that idea forward with bay, eucalyptus, and warm spice.

A bottle shaped by Caribbean craft

St Johns makes its connection to island culture visible in the bottle. The distinctive Fishpot Weave cover is hand-woven from palm fronds and recalls traditional fishing baskets. Each cover therefore carries small variations. The fragrances are also made in small batches, according to the company. No. 77 translates that history into a more modern citrus and herbal cologne.
