The story

Scents of Wood began in Midway, Utah, in 2020. Founder Fabrice Croisé dedicated the house to the forests and trees that have accompanied him since his childhood in southern France.

Collaborations with perfumers including Pascal Gaurin and Céline Barel bring together distinct creative voices. They share an interest in wood, both as inspiration and as a material that shapes the alcohol used in the fragrances.

01 · Fabrice Croisé

Memories of trees

As a child, Fabrice Croisé built treehouses with his brother in southern France. After working in fragrance development and brand communication, he made his personal connection to trees the starting point for his own fragrance house.

He asks the perfumers to recall trees from their own lives, too. Croisé describes his role as that of a gallerist, working with different creators on compositions made to be worn on skin.

02 · Barrel aging

Alcohol becomes an ingredient

Scents of Wood ages organic sugar-cane alcohol in wooden barrels before combining it with the fragrance composition. The house uses new barrels as well as vessels previously used for spirits. The wood and the barrel’s history contribute to the character of the alcohol base.

A carrier usually chosen for its neutrality becomes another ingredient in the composition. The brand documents several woods and barrel origins.
