The story

Les Eaux Primordiales was founded in 2015 in Northern France by Arnaud Poulain. Born in Arras, the founder brings an engineering background to a perfumery shaped by images, art, and the industrial landscapes of his home region.

The name refers to Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and to the primordial waters from which life takes form. At the Domaine Primordial near Arras, the house turns that idea into an integrated manufacture, from fragrance development through bottling.

01 · Founder

Arnaud Poulain: from engineering to scent architecture

Arnaud Poulain grew up in a family of artisans and first pursued science and mechanical engineering. In 2007 he discovered perfumery, trained in Lens, and met Amélie Bourgeois. The house describes her as his mentor who continues to support the technical development of his fragrances. His own work draws on childhood memories, painting, and photography.

02 · Origins

The primordial waters of Arras

The name Les Eaux Primordiales is borrowed, according to the house, from Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. It describes primordial waters as the beginning of life and expresses a return to one's roots. Poulain therefore established the manufacture in his home region near Arras. The Domaine Primordial joins a historic setting with the ambition to make French luxury craftsmanship visible.

03 · Craft

Precision through to bottling

At the manufacture, the house describes every stage as precision craftsmanship. Formulas mature in a controlled environment before bottling. Its official savoir-faire page names darkness, stable temperature, regulated humidity, and the Atmos 432 Resonance Room as elements of that process.
