The story
Founded in Thailand in 2018, Bortnikoff works with rare natural materials and describes its perfumes as containing 95 to 100 percent natural ingredients. Many of the oils used are distilled in-house.
The house was established by Dmitry Bortnikoff, trained first as an architect, who came to perfumery through working with agarwood and sandalwood oils. His creations connect traditional distillation methods with contemporary composition.

Dmitry Bortnikoff’s path

Dmitry Bortnikoff came to perfumery from architecture. In 2013 he co-founded Feel-Oud and worked with the distillation of precious agarwood and sandalwood oils. That experience with rare materials became the foundation for the house he established in Thailand in 2018.

Distillation as part of the signature

Bortnikoff describes its approach as a combination of traditional 19th-century distillation techniques and modern composition. Many oils are made in-house. This helps explain why material is more than a note in creations such as Lao Oud: it is the starting point of the story.

03 · Bangkok, Thailand

A house close to rare materials

Bortnikoff is based in Bangkok. The city is the verified origin of the house, not simply the address of a later retail location. From here, the brand connects Asian material culture with a focused, internationally minded niche-perfumery practice.

For me, the most authentic blood orange I have ever had the pleasure of smelling in a fragrance.

Creamy-floral, ylang-ylang very prominent. Slight animalic notes. Softer than expected. Simply great!

The opening: The fragrance starts surprisingly bright and sparkling with bergamot and cardamom, which immediately lends it an elegant touch. The heart: Here, a lush, tropical floral character unfolds through ylang-ylang, paired with the earthiness of cedarwood. This phase feels soft, sunny, and pleasantly sweet. The base: The true magic lies in the drydown. The natural deer musk is masterfully embedded in oakmoss, tonka bean, and a fine vanilla note. The result is a buttery-soft, velvety texture that lingers on the skin for hours.
