YeYe Parfums: Artisanal Fragrances from California's American Riviera
The YeYe Parfums Story: From Venezuela to Santa Barbara
YeYe Parfums emerged from a personal journey that began in Venezuela and found its culmination in Santa Barbara, California. Co-founder Ernesto Sanchez Bujanda, originally trained as an Industrial Engineer, discovered his passion for fragrance during his time in New York City. There, he gained valuable experience in the high-end beauty and fragrance industries.
The name "YeYe" carries special emotional significance - it was a term of endearment used by Ernesto and his siblings during childhood. This personal touch reflects the brand's familial philosophy. In 2007, Bujanda started with YeYe Home Fragrances and dedicated years to self-study of natural scent materials.
Together with partner Ryan York, he eventually founded YeYe Parfums. York contributes his vision for brand identity as Creative Director, while graphic designer Konstantin Subbotin handles the visual aesthetics. In 2015, the trio launched the brand's first three artisanal fragrances.
The location in Santa Barbara, the "true American Riviera," fundamentally shapes the brand philosophy. The temperate climate and natural beauty of California flow into every fragrance. The brand combines European perfumery tradition with American innovation, creating a unique identity in the niche segment.
This geographical influence sets YeYe apart from urban-focused fragrance houses. The eternal spring of California's landscape filters through their work, resulting in scents that reflect a place where nature thrives year-round rather than harsh city environments.
YeYe Parfums Signature Scents: Between Nature and Cosmos
YeYe Parfums' portfolio comprises six extraordinary compositions created between 2015 and 2021. Each fragrance tells its own story and showcases Ernesto Sanchez Bujanda's talent for unusual raw material combinations.
Equus No 8 marked the collection's 2015 debut. Inspired by a ride through Hawaii's Big Island Mountains, this woody fragrance unites smoky clove, leather, and precious woods. With 70% natural raw materials, it demonstrates the brand's artisanal expertise.
Sentiers de Comètes transports wearers to cosmic spheres. This floral fragrance opens with Italian mandarin and bergamot, evolving through orange blossom and jasmine to a warm base of ambergris and frankincense.
The 2021 collection introduced three new creations. Golden Aura captivates with creamy osmanthus and patchouli. Path to Infinity combines yuzu with hinoki wood and palo santo. Sunken Garden unites coriander with white florals and vetiver.
Every fragrance is developed completely in-house - from idea through composition to bottling. This artisanal approach guarantees highest quality and uniqueness. Bujanda's engineering background brings discipline and precision to the creative process, while his philosophical influences add depth and meaning to each composition.
YeYe Parfums in the Luxury Market: Exclusivity Meets Accessibility
YeYe Parfums positions itself in the premium niche segment of the fragrance market. With pricing at 185 euros for 100ml, the brand targets discerning fragrance enthusiasts who value quality and exclusivity. This pricing reflects the use of finest raw materials from around the world and artisanal production methods.
The target audience includes perfume connoisseurs and collectors seeking extraordinary compositions. YeYe Parfums appeals to individuals who want to distinguish themselves from mainstream fragrances and appreciate the story behind a perfume. The fragrances suit both newcomers to the niche world and experienced collectors.
Distribution occurs through select perfumeries like Indigo Perfumery and specialized online retailers. This selective distribution underscores the brand's exclusive character. For interested customers, providers like Scent Split offer samples to test fragrances before purchase.
YeYe Parfums' value proposition lies in combining artisanal quality, unique compositions, and personal stories behind each fragrance. The brand offers an alternative to mass-market perfumes and large luxury conglomerates. With only six fragrances, the portfolio remains manageable and each creation maintains its special status.
The California origin gives the brand a relaxed, nature-connected aura that differs from the often elitist atmosphere of European niche houses. This American Riviera sensibility creates fragrances that feel approachable yet sophisticated, reflecting the temperate landscape where they're created rather than harsh urban environments.
