The story
Mezel is a Paris-based fragrance house founded in 2024 by Sophia Gyé-Jacquot, who translates her Franco-Moroccan perspective into an independent olfactory language. The founder presents Paris and Morocco as two formative perfume cultures and seeks a dialogue between their materials, gestures, and stories beyond cliché.
The collection begins with tangible memories: coffee in Tangier, mint tea, dates and milk at Moroccan weddings, or orange blossom water poured from a copper vessel. The five fragrances turn these references into wearable olfactory contrasts rather than literal illustrations.
01 · The founder

Two perfume cultures, one independent voice

Franco-Moroccan founder Sophia Gyé-Jacquot built her career in the luxury industry and worked on fragrances from concept through international launch. On Mezel's official site, she describes her motivation as a wish to give Moroccan and French perfume traditions renewed attention through their materials, craft, and stories.

02 · Moroccan rituals

Memory becomes scent

Mezel starts from tangible scenes. Datte Opaline refers to the Moroccan wedding custom of offering dates and milk with orange blossom. Menthe Enivrante revisits the ritual of mint tea, while Néroli Cuivré turns the hospitality surrounding a copper orange-blossom-water vessel into a metallic accord.
